Lisa Arnold Professional Genealogist, Author and Lecturer Lisa’s interest in genealogy stems mainly from her Quaker heritage. Her families on both sides were Quakers, arriving in this country in the days of William Penn from Wales and England. She was raised in the Quaker religion, attended Quaker schools, and was married in a Quaker wedding ceremony in a Quaker Meetinghouse near Philadelphia. She completed an internship (2004) at Swarthmore College; working with the Quaker collection housed there. Lisa has written a book on doing research in Quaker records (scheduled to be published in Spring, 2009). While conducting research for clients, she has been particularly fascinated in how learning about the past can help generations of families draw closer together. In addition, it is apparent that learning about their heritage seems to be very therapeutic for some. Along those lines, she is working on designing a workbook for groups such as at-risk youth, prison inmates, and HIV-AIDS patients, as a form of therapy to help them overcome some internal obstacles by connecting with past generations and seeing themselves as part of a larger family unit. Lisa is currently employed at The Generations Network (Ancestry.com) as a Content Specialist. Her responsibilities include: Ethnic records, Church, and Immigration records. Lisa has five children, 4+1/2 grandchildren. She enjoys the challenge of locating ancestors, and certainly appreciates it when they help out!
